Time flies quickly, and the coronavirus pandemic has swept the world for nearly a year. The coronavirus suddenly hit us last winter and changed the original life of mankind. Student’s learning situation has changed from offline to online. The work surrounding of adults shifted from office to home online. Many companies have begun to transform their business as well. The cold winter is still continuing, and the low temperature environment seems to make the coronavirus pandemic more reckless. As of January 26, the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus pandemic worldwide rose to 99,283,370, the number of deaths reached 2,131,166. Many European countries are still in the most tense stage of prevention and control under this tough situation. As of press time, France (3112055 cases), Spain (2499560 cases), UK (3657883 cases), Italy (2466813 cases), Germany (2151189 cases). The confirmed cases in a single day are still in the peak range. In the United States (25,128,825 cases), the pandemic situation continued to deteriorate, and the number of new coronavirus pandemic cases in a single day remained at the peak level.

The transportation problems brought about by the coronavirus pandemic are delaying the export and import of products in various countries, hindering the production of manufacturing, agriculture, etc. It may cause the prices of consumer goods in various countries to rise.

According to the Baltic Index, since the beginning of November last year, the shipping cost of containerized cargo has risen by 80%, and has nearly tripled in the past year. This increase reflects the dramatic changes in consumption during the pandemic. Consumers have used money originally used for dining out or watching movies to buy imported clothing, computers, furniture and other goods. Customer’s action sets a new consumption record for these goods. This unprecedented sudden changes in consumption have overturned the long-standing trade model and created a "transportation bottleneck" from Chinese factories to foreign consumers. Exporters, port officials and trade experts state the impact of the coronavirus pandemic has exposed the fragility of physical channels for cross-border trade.

However, risks and opportunities are symbiotic. Even though cross-border trade exports are restricted by the pandemic and have entered a bottleneck period, the real feedback under the big data is really surprising. According to Alibaba statistics, China's export demand for consumer electronics in 2020 increased by 95% year-on-year; According to Alibaba statistics, China's export demand for consumer electronics in 2020 increased by 95% year-on-year; Moreover, the demand for sports and entertainment increased by 128% year-on-year. The coronavirus pandemic prevented people from going out, but it could not extinguish people's enthusiasm for fitness. And dumbbells became the king of export goods, which became the most in demand product for large household appliances. The upward trend of demand in many industries as shown in the figure is very impressive.

From a macro perspective, based on the above data, the bottleneck in cross-border trade is only temporary. A substantial increase in demand will eventually tend to exceed supply. As long as we seize the opportunity, when we survive this difficult period is the beginning of another dawn. Just as we want to see more beautiful and farther scenery, we must try to climb higher and steeper mountains. In any case, we should face this tough situation with a positive attitude, and we should believe we can cope with any challenge in the future.
